Quakes sign Joe Cannon
![]()
This just in...
The Earthquakes have signed Joe Cannon from the Los Angeles Galaxy for a partial allocation.
Cannon is, of course, a fan favorite in San Jose, not to mention a native of Los Gatos. Welcome back, Joe!
The Quakes have issued a press release about the signing which we expect will be on their web site soon.
There's some bad news, too. The team was unable to sign Clarence Goodson, who has decided to pursue opportunities in Europe.

Though happy news indeed, isn't Joe Cannon burned out and/or depressed from his experience with the Galaxy? :(

What a great good news, bad news post. Very nice to have Cannon in goal, but without Goodson back there AND with Ryan Cochrane's well-known ball-watching, ah , skills, Cannon is going to have to grow maybe two extra arms and add about 30 horizontal inches to his frame.
Still though, nice signing. Baby steps...

YESSS!!!
(I did just literally stifle a yell here at work.)

The Joe comes home for a second go-round. This deal means LA needed to free up some cap space and we on paper can contend immediately.
Be prepared for those pre-game tossers and post-game victory high-fives. The good old days!

Awesome. Now you think the Quakes could take those Galaxy photos off our website?

This is great news - but who is going to score the goals for us? Looking for some encouragment here... maybe it gets clearer as the Earthquakes do some more dealing?
