Having a ball with BAWSI
![]()
The Bay Area Women's Sports Initiative's party celebrating the fifth anniversary of the San Jose CyberRays' WUSA championship was the place to be Saturday night. As if we have to even mention thatit's pretty clear from the great photo John Todd sent us, showing Sissi (in the C-Rays shirt), Zack Phillips (AKA SoccerHead), and some players from the JC team that Sissi coaches. Thanks to BAWSI for hosting such a great event and to Gordon Biersch Brewery in San Jose for donating all the beer and great food. And, heynice scarf!

What's the status of the Earthquakes stayin in the South Bay.
I do know that the local authorities were derelict at letting the Quakes leave; they are a bunch of villagers with a rustic mentality. Despite that they are in Silicon Valley, Silicon Valley is not in their heads.
Still, I harbor hopes that Lee Wolff will luckily choose in Santa Clara County a good, decent site for his Soccer stadium.
By the way, NASA or whoever controls Moffet Field would probably be happy to have a sports complex with a soccer specific stadium on a corner of the vast (about 1,000 acres) Moffet Field land.
